FALL 2024
Emma Geary
I have long held an interest in wildlife, ever since joining the Gould League in primary school. The league is an independent Australian organization named after the English ornithologist John Gould and focused on general environmental education.
I grew up in Western Australia in the 70s and 80s, and during that period was influenced by the naturalist Harry Butler, who was the presenter of the popular ABC television series In the Wild, where viewers were shown remote parts of Australia’s natural environment.
A love of bushwalking, birdwatching, and photography has absorbed me over the years and provided many awe-filled moments.
In my photography and ceramic work, I combine my love of nature with my artistic pursuits.
To be wandering in nature is one of my greatest pleasures and privileges.
