Uncharted Wonder began with four wood panels working as if they were one, each a layering of collage, paint, and medium.

Soon my curiosity and fear graphed a blueprint of reverence. At this phase, texture and color took turns concealing and revealing unmapped territory.
 
 
 
 
 
 
I transferred colors from one panel to the next, and the work began to feel agrarian, like tilling soil. That is when the unknown turned into possibilities—the propagation of astonishment.

Sarah Platenius

Sarah Platenius’s work in visual art and writing is an ongoing practice that traverses the wild, invasive, and cultivated energy in each of us and the breathing world; her work is a collection of field notes, tributes, and signposts interpreting weather patterns of heart, politics, religion, and geography. Sarah’s art has most recently appeared in Camas Magazine, Sage Magazine, and Scoundrel Times. It has most recently been exhibited at Federation Gallery, Reflecting Spirit, and Orange Door Gallery. Her writing has most recently appeared in California Quarterly and Wilderness House Literary Review. Sarah lives on the west coast of Vancouver Island with her husband, son, and daughter.
