Poetry
SEPTEMBER 2020
Witness
by NAOMI ERNEST
ex. a:
The sunshine— stuffed with folklore—
shatters across riverbeds.
The looking-glass sky reflects nothing,
eyeballs everything
under its brass-handled magnifier.
ex. b:
The night is always a metaphor.
The moon swerves,
searchlighting deer pastures,
peering between treetops,
looking for its nightblooming namesake.
